Growing the Game
Roger Sali x Birds of Condor
"It’s a complete feel good to be working with Roger. We’ve been supporting his travel and supplying him with products to gift throughout Ugandan communities over the last couple of years. This has enabled him to share the game of golf with children who may have never got to enjoy or learn about it.
To be releasing the Birds X Roger Sali collection is something that we are very proud of. Funds will go to Roger and to his chosen local charity, the Entebbe Golf School which will further support the next wave of young Ugandan golfers."
Frankie, Co-Founder of Birds of Condor
The Entebbe Junior Program nurtures golf among Ugandan youth aged 3 to 18 by partnering with schools to offer a supportive space to learn and love the game. With over 50 juniors at Entebbe Club and many more joining the Juniors Open from other clubs, the programme showcases young talent and passion.
Funds raised help cover coaching, green fees, and caddy costs for those in need, as well as provide essential equipment like golf clubs and shoes. This initiative goes beyond golf, it's about creating opportunities, fostering talent, and transforming lives.
We spoke to the man himself, Roger, about the new collection, what it means for him and the kids.
How does it feel to launch your own clothing drop with Birds of Condor?
Launching my own clothing line with Birds of Condor feels like a dream come true. It's an incredible honour to collaborate with a brand that shares my vision for the future of golf. This drop represents more than just clothing; it's a symbol of breaking barriers and bringing the game of golf to places where it's not widely recognised, like Uganda. I'm excited to see how this partnership can inspire others to pick up the sport and express their unique style on and off the course. This moment marks a significant milestone in my journey, and I couldn't be more proud of what we've created together.
What inspired the designs we see on the clothes?
The designs are deeply inspired by the colours of my country, Uganda. I wanted to keep the design natural and simple, something that resonates easily with everyone who sees it. This simplicity also reflects my belief that golf should be accessible and enjoyable for all, no matter where you come from.
Additionally, the designs symbolise my mission to grow the game of golf, not just in Uganda but around the world. My ultimate goal is to have a significant impact on the sport, and I believe this clothing line is a step in that direction.
If there was one person who you’d love to see wearing the kit, who is it?
If I had to choose just one person, it would be my friend Nick, who runs the SlomoSwing Library page. He's believed in me from the beginning and has always motivated me to keep pushing forward with my goals. His support has meant the world to me. I'd also love to see Sam Davis from the PGA Tour wearing the kit. Both Nick and Sam have been incredible allies in my journey, and seeing them in my clothing line would be truly special.
Why did you choose Entebbe Junior Program as the charity partner for this drop?
I chose the Entebbe Junior Program as the charity partner for this drop because Entebbe Golf Course has played a significant role in my journey.
It's a public course that truly embodies the spirit of growing the game. They provide opportunities for juniors to play for free on certain days, which is crucial for nurturing the next generation of golfers. Their support has been invaluable to me, and partnering with them is my way of giving back and helping them continue their mission to grow the game of golf in Uganda.
What does it mean to you to be able to share the love and smiles with the youth of Uganda?
Sharing love and smiles with the youth of Uganda means spreading hope and positivity, empowering young minds to dream big, and fostering a sense of connection within a global community. By nurturing resilience, creativity, and determination, we inspire the next generation of leaders and change-makers. Together, we can unlock their potential, break cycles of poverty, and create a ripple effect of kindness, building a more just and equitable world.
